BAPTISM

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."      Matthew 28:19 (NIV)

Baptism is an outward sign of an inward grace.  The act of baptism does not save us, but we do it to show the world that we are saved and not ashamed.

Here, at Cypress, we baptize by immersion.  As you go under the water, your former life without Christ is dead and buried.  When you are brought up from the water, you are raised to new life in the spirit.  The water also represents the washing of our sins.

Your next opportunity to be baptized will be during the 2010 Summer Celebration which will be held on Sunday, August 29.  This will be an outdoor, church-wide service held that afternoon.  Music will begin at 2:30, with the baptisms at 3:00pm.

All adults, all youth (7th through 12th graders), and those 5th and 6th graders who have completed the catechism class, are welcome to participate in this service.  Those being baptized are required to attend an informational meeting prior to the Summer Celebration service.  The meeting dates have not been set.

Please watch this space for more details concerning the service and the meeting times.

If you have questions concerning baptism, call the church office, ext. 247, and talk to Debbie Brisentine.
